About Us

Cardiology Tasmania was founded in 2019 by Dr David Russell, and is primarily an outreach cardiology service, delivering a high-quality specialist cardiac diagnostic services to rural and socio-economically disadvantaged regions of Tasmania (including consultations and echocardiography).

All cardiologists and cardiac physiologists work closely with the Royal Hobart Hospital and Hobart Private Hospitals.
A major goal for us is to improve communication with referring doctors, by taking echocardiographic reporting to the next level:
  • Our reports are standardised and concise, we avoid difficult acronyms and terminology
  • We provide a quick turn-around time for reports (often within 24hrs during business hours)
  • When possible, we provide management suggestions to aid GPs prior to clinic appointments
  • We can directly compare images from most service providers, including the Royal Hobart Hospital
